Wurmloch
The idea of the ‘wormhole’ is often used in science fiction to visualise different dimensions of a plot.
In this pilot study with pre-school and primary school children, we try to transfer this idea to the development of knowledge of meaning.
For example, how do environmental changes relate to the development of semantic knowledge?

TAM
Our aim is to investigate the developmental trajectories of cognitive and motor adaptation across childhood, adolescence, young adulthood and old age. We have developed a new task that has proven to be appropriate and sensitive for investigating developmental and individual differences within specific age groups. Our aim is to identify moderators, both cognitive and social, that may explain differences in cognitive and motor adaptability between individuals. This could improve our understanding of how to identify groups at risk of learning difficulties. The results of this study have the potential to motivate future research into interventions and prevention strategies aimed at facilitating the adaptation of individuals to their environment.

MotivO
Project MotivO aims at investigating and comparing motivational aspects of reading achievement across orthographies (German vs. Hebrew). Within the context of a cooperation project, German and Israeli 2nd and 4th Graders will be compared regarding their reading motivation and reading achievement in a cross-language research design to detect positive or negative feelings towards reading as well as changes across time.

Momokid 2.0
We investigate the extent to which strategic and incidental learning might modulate the efficiency of memory consolidation of events over time. We also investigate how this process might differ between children and young adults.

InSel
The InSel project is investigating how well teachers can recognise internalising symptoms in their students. In addition, a psychoeducational intervention for teachers regarding internalising behavioural problems in students is being developed and tested.

GUIDEPREP
The Europe-wide project ‘Growing Up in Digital Europe’ (GUIDE) analyses the success factors for the development of well-being in a digital world. Over a period of about 25 years, two birth cohorts (infants and school-age children) and their parents will be systematically surveyed. The upstream project GUIDEPREP (‘GUIDE Preparatory Phase’) will develop the necessary research infrastructure for the GUIDE panel between 2022 and 2026.

GamA
Gamification refers to the application of typical gaming elements in a non-gaming context. The Gamified Assessment project investigates the role of gamification elements in performance testing.

EMMA
The EMMA project investigates what emotions children report after failures, how children adjust their goals after failures, and the role of emotions and evaluation of failure in goal adjustment.

EAGLeS
The EAGLeS project focuses on the acquisition of written language skills when learning English as a foreign language in Years 5 and 6. It will look for systematic differences between children with reading and/or spelling difficulties and those without. This will be followed by the development and validation of an English diagnostic procedure.

DeSign
Self-regulation refers to an individual’s ability to control his or her own thoughts, feelings and actions in a way that supports the pursuit of long-term goals. The characteristics of situations influence this ability and can therefore support or hinder self-regulation. The DeSign project investigated the interplay between the perceived quality of teaching during a lesson and changes in students’ self-regulation.
